In spite of being acquired by a for-profit healthcare provider, a nonprofit health store will continue operating.
As St. John Health Care Shop was unable to survive the “challenging economic climate,” it was sold to Guardian Medical Guernsey Ltd.
St. John Ambulance Guernsey announced that it had fulfilled its mission to “provide service continuity” to the people of the island.
Managing Director Heather Langlois assured customers that “business as usual” would be resumed promptly.
She explained that this means the Health Care Shop will remain open in the Rohais for the foreseeable future, with a future plan to relocate to a new location while maintaining the same level of service and staffing.
“I’m happy that our current staff can keep serving the community and bringing their skills and knowledge to bear under new leadership.”
“We believe that the degree of continuity of staffing will be welcomed by customers,” said Guardian Medical’s Martin Fitzgerald. “It will provide excellent service and reassurance from familiar surroundings and with easy access for all.”
